Get to Know Me

I am a long-time Bay Area resident (40-plus years), I worked for two Silicon Valley high-tech companies after receiving my B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems. After earning my Juris Doctorate at Lincoln Law School, I subsequently worked in the area of immigration.
After a career break to spend time with my children I was presented the opportunity to consult with a career counselor/therapist, leading me to realize that counseling psychology offered the best way for me to channel my passion for helping others. After my successful completion of a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program at John F. Kennedy University with a specialization in Professional Clinical Counseling, I provided on-site school counseling services to students and also therapy in a clinical setting to a diverse adult client base with different issues at Almaden Valley Counseling Services (AVCS).
I am part of the team at Thrive Family Therapy, where I bring not only life experience but also a wide range of clinical knowledge in treating many issues, with special expertise in anxiety, depression, life transitions, couples work, pre-marital issues and divorce. My approach to treatment and client understanding emphasizes mutual respect and collaboration, reflecting a deep commitment to a strong therapeutic alliance and evidence-based practices. I tailor my efforts toward specific client needs, and draw upon a variety of psychological approaches. I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and also experienced with CBT and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I use a humanistic approach which takes the whole individual into consideration.
I understand the importance of recognizing that people are at different life stages and meeting them wherever they are. I welcomes clients from all backgrounds—encompassing different religious/spiritual beliefs, cultures, and gender identities, including individuals from the LGBTQ community. My goal is to create a safe space for you to heal while experiencing personal growth.
I am an avid hiker who uses photography as a creative outlet, I also enjoy traveling and spending time with friends and family, including my two teenage sons.
