My approach

When it comes to helping clients, I take a humanistic and holistic approach. This means I consider the whole individual into consideration, it is an integrative approach.   An Integrative approach involves selecting the techniques from different therapeutic orientations that is best suited to your particular problem.  My approach to treatment and client understanding emphasizes mutual respect and collaboration, reflecting a deep commitment to a strong therapeutic alliance and evidence-based practices.

I draw upon a variety of approaches in my work with you such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),  Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT),  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solutions Focused Therapy (SFT).   I have trained and continue to learn in these modalities.

Professional and life experience

I was born in the Philippines and moved to California when I was young.  I am a long-time Bay Area resident for over 45 years, I worked for two Silicon Valley high-tech companies after receiving my B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems. After earning my Juris Doctorate, I subsequently worked in the area of immigration.  After a career break to spend time with my children I was presented the opportunity to consult with a career counselor/therapist, leading me to realize that counseling psychology offered the best way for me to channel my passion for helping others. After my successful completion of a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program at John F. Kennedy University, I provided on-site school counseling services to students and also therapy in a clinical setting to a diverse adult client base with different issues at Almaden Valley Counseling Services and Thrive Family Services.   I bring not only life experience but also a wide range of clinical knowledge in treating many issues, with special expertise in anxiety, depression, life transitions, couples work, pre-marital issues and divorce.

For fun.....I enjoy hiking and use photography as a creative outlet, I also enjoy traveling, spending time with friends and family and playing pickleball.
