Am I right for you?

Below are some of the many areas where I help my clients build resilience in various areas of their lives.   Here are issues that I am often presented with:

Anxiety and Depression

Coping Skills

Divorce

Family Conflict

Grief

Life Transitions

Marital and Pre-marital

Peer Relationships

Relationship Issues

School Stress

Self-Esteem

Trauma

Work Stress

Work Life Balance

Narcissistic Abuse

Adult Children of  Dysfunctional Familes

I help and support clients heal from narcissistic and emotional abuse. Being in any sort of relationship with a narcissist—be it romantic, familial, or career-related—can be extremely damaging and confusing. Growing up in a dysfunctional family can lead to low self-worth, difficulty establishing boundaries, emotional instability, unhealthy relationships and maladaptive coping mechanisms.  This toxicity often leads to other issues such as anxiety, low self-esteem, and depression.  I’ll help you understand and heal from the narcissistic abuse cycle and recover from the impact of growing up in a dysfunctional family.  We will work together so you can break the cycle, thrive and find your power once more.

Codependency

Codependency is where two people are joined together emotionally in a relationship—but in a toxic way. This type of relationship is hugely imbalanced, with one partner usually sacrificing their emotional well-being to accommodate the other. Often, codependent individuals enable unhealthy behaviors in order to retain the status quo or gain approval from their loved one.   Once we’ve identified codependency symptoms in your relationship, we’ll work together to move you towards a healthier place of self-love, self-respect, and a stronger sense of self.

Adults

When life becomes difficult, talking things through with a qualified therapist can be immensely helpful. Human struggles such as anxiety, stress, depression, relationship difficulties, anger, and financial hardship are all easier to face when shared. I can help you tackle challenging decisions, provide you with coping mechanisms for everyday life, and promote self-care and self-improvement.

Perhaps you need support when processing a life transition such as marriage, divorce, and retirement. New starts in life, including parenthood, career changes, and transitioning to adulthood, can also be jarring—or maybe you’re struggling to cope with caring for an elderly or sick parent. We never know what curveballs life will throw at us next—losing a job, physical illness, and death can all be difficult to cope with without the help of a therapist to hold and guide you emotionally.

Young Adult

Being a young adult typically refers to the stage of life between adolescence and full adulthood.  This period is unique because it is characterized by significant physical, emotional, social, and cognitive changes, as individuals transition from dependency on caregivers to greater independence and autonomy. Some things that we can work on in therapy are independency and responsibility – perhaps you want to move out, contemplating a career or deciding on higher education, maybe you are forming new relationships or your existing one is evolving.  This is also a time where young adults explore their values, beliefs, interests as well as aspects of their identity.  Whatever it may be, we will work together and I will provide support and guidance as you navigate the challenges of young adulthood and work towards personal growth and well-being.

Teen Therapy

Our adolescent years can be some of the hardest we experience throughout our lives. As we transition pressures can build, bodies are physically
changing -- no wonder things can feel overwhelming. And yet as young people, with little experience of the world yet, we’re often emotionally ill-equipped to deal with the strains we face.  Without efficient coping mechanisms and effective emotional release, teens may end up sad, worried, withdrawn, confused, lonely, angry and fearful. Sometimes speaking to a professional outside of the family can be a huge help for adolescents concerned about grades, bullying, social cliques, exams, sports performance, careers, and communicating with teachers.  Perhaps your family life is not that great or school is becoming too stressful, we’ll get to the bottom of together through teen therapy.

LGBTQ Affirming Therapy

In addition to the stressors and strains that the population as a whole may face—anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-esteem and more—LGBTQ individuals may be confronted with additional issues such as homophobia, discrimination and prejudice, and challenging family relationships.

I can support you through any part of your journey, from questioning your sexuality or gender through to coming out to friends and family, and navigating life as an LGBTQ person. My support is always provided in a safe, secure, and non-judgmental space.
